Royce Janssen, founder of Eagle Developers, had a vision to re-construct the interior of the former Lakota Public School building into a functional facility for the community and surrounding areas.
Janssen, a Lakota graduate, has previous 30 years experience in a wide variety of commercial steel building erection. This has equipped him to see beyond the block walls, into hidden design possibilities the structure holds.
Working with the local school board, Eagle Developers purchased the building and began the tedious demo of block interior walls to enlarge areas to be used for the new design.
Because of the steel I-beam construction and block walls, the structure was perfect to remodel areas to any size the plans demanded.
The first phase of developing the building was Royce’s plan for a fully handicap accessible banquet facility. It is used for youth groups, concerts, local ministries, business meetings, class and family reunions, and wedding receptions. This was completed in 2003.
The next phase of the building was to develop the housing area. Three homes are now completed and a garage facility attached to the building for convenient access to vehicles.
Future plans are underway and include more areas to be developed into office suites, fitness center and a bakery/coffee shop.
